June 7, 2020 - Flyout to Delaware Coastal for Lunch

The Essex Skypark Hangar Row A Flyers were headed to Georgetown, Delaware on this beautiful Sunday.  There was myself in the RV-7, Chuck/Ron in Chuck's 172 and Rich/Nhu-An in Nhu-An's 172.

Here we are parked at Delaware Coastal Airport in Georgetown, Delaware.

Nhu-An in front of her 172.

PChuck's 172 is last one on the right.

I didn't really know what to expect with the restaurant given the Chinese Virus and all.  Would it be open?  Would we be sitting outside?  But it turns out that it was open.  They had re-arranged seating inside so that tables were spread apart so we got to sit inside.  They were only serving lunch -- usually they have a brunch buffett on Sundays.  So we got to sit inside.  For most of us, it was the first time we had sat inside a restaurant in three months.  It was nice to sit in a restaurant again.  So we had a nice lunch.  Some other Essex Skypark pilots came in shortly after we did so Essex Skypart had quite a good showing this day.

Georgetown is not far from Ocean City, Maryland so a beach run is mandatory.  Here is a shot of me from Rich/Nhu-An as we wing our way towards Ocean City.

Approaching the beach.  That is Rich/Nhu-An down below.  A big C-17 cargo jet cruises down low offshore heading south.

I turn south.

Lots of people at the beach today.  Lots of cars in the big parking lot too although it is not full to capacity.

I made a U-turn at the southern tip and am now heding north.

Absolutely perfect day for flying.

Jolly Roger water park is not open yet though.

Checking out Fenwick Island, Delaware just over the state line from Maryland where highway 54 comes in.

Looking southwest at highway 54.

Nice houses!

Now heading northwest towards home.  Passing by a big golf course community.

I climbed up to 5,500 or so for the cool air.  That is the Choptank River meandering south to the Bay.

A better look at the Choptank River.

Highway 404 points west like an arrow towards Kent Island and the Bay Bridge.
